Who can benefit from our wellness session?
Working dogs Guide dogs, service dogs, therapy dogs, police dogs and other working canine can benefit from regular massage/Reiki sessions. Massage can help maintain the performance level by relieving tired and sore muscles and by inducing relaxation. Reiki can help reduce mental and emotional stress they tend to pick up on the job from their handlers and/or their patients. And, they deserve some pampering for their contribution to our society. Geriatric/Senior dogs Massage helps elderly and convalescing animals, particularly those suffering from arthritis, stiffness, skin conditions, impaired heart, liver or kidney function. Many older dogs suffer from degenerative or chronic disorders that benefit from the stimulating and tonifying effects of massage and Reiki. Dogs recovering from injury or surgery Massage helps the body to pump more oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs. This allows the rehabilitating areas to become more flexible and heal at an accelerated rate. It also can aid in pain management as the injury is nursed back to full strength. Shy/Nervous dogs Both massage and Reiki affect animals on many emotional levels and can help with depression, fear, separation anxiety, trauma, grieving, shyness and aggression. Massage promotes comfort, love, self worth bonding and emotional well-being. Large breed puppies Large breed puppies are greatly helped by massage of limbs in which joints are extended and flexed to increase circulation. Through the blood circulation, growing bones receive their nutrients, especially calcium and phosphorus. Since bones grow at the ends near the joints, and because fast-growing breeds are more prone to sprains and strains, regular massage around the joints accelerates the rate of healing.
